Hard Drive and Data Reocvery
|
Computer Doctors of Maine, Inc., is a provider of data recovery services. Our networking model centers around data protection; most small businesses neglect this most important piece of their operations due to perceived expenses or failure to manage data better. When disaster strikes our experts are called in to recover data. We have successfully done so for projects linked to the Drug Enforcement Agency and to the University of Southern Maine, as well as numerous individual or small business users.

Our data-recovery (hard drive recovery) business was started in 2005. Since then we have helped countless individuals, companies, state agencies, and government agencies recover data from disaster, errors/accidents, as well as for forensic or evidential purposes.
Hard Drive Data Recovery, is a service most common in small businesses. Frequently computer users save important data on their workstations, without synchronizing or saving it to a server. Most, do not backup their computers. Eventually the hard disks fail in one of two ways: data corruption or physical damage. The good news is we can recover both. Our advanced data extraction techniques allow us to extract data from corrupt disks, or open and remove platters in a Class-100 Clean Room for the more advanced damage.
Hard Drive Data Recovery also includes Flash Drives, or memory sticks. We are generally able to recover them for a small fee. Our most common complaint results from travelers with digital cameras that are x-rayed.
Finally, RAID data recovery, is part of our Hard Drive Data Recovery services and is the more advanced form of recovery. In cases where a RAID failure occurs and no backups are available, we'll guide you in all the stages of the recovery.
Forensics and Evidence Collection: We assist clients by securing, extracting and processing electronic files for use in investigations and litigation. We provide technically and legally informed service, consultation and expert testimony to law firms, governments, corporations and private parties.

We began our recovery business with simple disc recovery. From there, we moved on to forensics. Most of our time is spent on projects that include evidence collection, examination, and reporting. We primarily provide services to businesses and government agencies. However, there is plenty of room to utilize our expertise and resources for consumers.
Our hard drive recovery journey has involved from individuals just trying to get their pictures and documents, to critical drives from the University of Southern Maine, to highly sensitive data for the Drug Enforcement Agency. Our clients came from all areas of Maine [including Portland, Biddeford, Westbrook, South Portland, Saco, Gorham, Bar Harbor, and Perry] to other parts of the US [including Florida and New York]. Our goal has remained the same, to provide easy and affordable data recovery services to individuals and businesses in Maine. Although we urge all of our customers (and visitors alike) to take all the precautions to BACKUP AND PROTECT their data, if disaster strikes we'll be there.
Some of our cases include:
- Nancy handed her computer over for virus removal to a Scarborough based computer company which proceeded to clean the infection. Life's work lost in a matter of seconds, which they blamed on the virus. Our process discovered the drive had been recklessly partitioned. We were able to recover almost all of the data.
- Annette, experienced sudden partition loss on a PowerEdge 1900 series server running SAS drives on RAID 1. Bad time to discover the backups were not running. We were able to do a RAW file recovery remotely within 12 hours - the server was located in Texas!
- Brady handed a computer over to be repaired by a Portland based computer company. They formatted the system without doing a backup. We were able to recover all of the data.
- Sally, CERC raid failure in a Dell PowerEdge server. A highly complicated case that involved data recovery AND a restore from a 1 year old backup. We restored all data, Active Directory, Exchange, and SQL Server.
- Steven, drive stopped working due to mechanical failure, drive was not spinning. Clean room recovery from a 500Gb disk.
- Robert, drive making strange noises. 25% bad sectors but data recovered.
- Andrew, drive took a hit from a paper-weight. Dead on arrival. Lab based recovery got the data.
- Diane, 9-year old computer crashed and she brought it to the computer repair persons in local - big-box - retailer. They tried to recover, failed, and caused more damage in the process. Their inexperience and poor judgement rendered the drive un-recoverable. Unfortunately, we cannot recover every drive; it is essential that ONLY EXPERIENCED data recovery engineers attempt to service your hard drive.
